“It was clear that a new approach was needed. We wanted to improve the way our people manage their wellbeing. Give them the tools to understand and improve their ability to deal with change and encourage staff to be mindful of each others’ wellbeing.” Jane – Assistant director adult social care
How we helped
We worked with 100 front line Social Workers and Mental Health Professionals to build personal and team resilience to accelerate and sustain transformational change.
The resilience programme was a key driver of immediate improvements in engagement levels, talent retention, employee satisfaction and wellbeing. It was also described as a key influencer and positive impact on the quality and provision of services.
The training significantly impacted both behaviour change and employee experience within the first three months.
Individual transformation fuelled organisation growth and change
ROI of £11.08 for every £1 spent
Social and mental health workers grew significantly in areas that enable wellbeing and resilience, which helped bolster their ability to navigate change and uncertainty brought by the transformation. Cognitive agility, maintaining social connection was among these critical areas of personal growth.
Two years later, Resilience Champions within the team continue to focus on maintaining everyone’s resilience skills and training new members. The champions have also used the resilience skills to create a strength-based supervision template that’s used across the borough. Resilience is part of their culture.
AWARD WINNING TRANSForMATION
We are also very proud The Public Sector Transformation Awards have awarded the Adult Social Care team from Kingston Council (RBK) a Certificate of Excellence.
Gemma Blunt, Corporate Head of Service Adult Social Care, described how recent improvements had laid the groundwork for this new success:
” We’re so proud of the way everyone contributed to developing the new strength-based service. This has helped change the team’s culture and make it normal to talk about our wellbeing, to celebrate our individual strengths, and remind ourselves of the importance of teamwork.”
